The Vallalar Premier League (VPL) is a grassroots sports initiative committed to discovering, nurturing, and empowering rural talent through structured, professional sporting platforms. Established with a deep sense of social responsibility, VPL operates as a dedicated unit of the Vallalar Sports Development Centre in Vadalur with the goal of making sports accessible, inclusive, and impactful for the youth.
The Vallalar Premier League was founded in 2025 by Mr. Deneshkumar Velmurugan, driven by a strong desire to create meaningful opportunities for talented players from rural and underrepresented backgrounds. What began as a cricket-focused league quickly evolved into a broader vision for long-term sports development.
To strengthen and expand this mission, Mr. Deneshkumar Velmurugan established the Vallalar Sports Development Centre in 2026. With its formation, VPL was officially brought under the trust as a key unit, allowing the league to grow with stronger governance, clearer objectives, and a sustainable development framework.
Denesh’s vision is deeply inspired by Vallalar (Sri Ramalinga Adigal) and his philosophy of compassion and selfless service. Just as Vallalar ensured free food for all, believing that no one should suffer from hunger, Denesh aims to ensure that no talented athlete is denied opportunity due to financial limitations.
Guided by this principle, the Vallalar Sports Development Centre strives to provide free access to sports, training opportunities, and essential equipment for deserving and underprivileged talents. Sports, in this vision, are not a privilege for a few, but a pathway for growth, dignity, and self-confidence for all.
At the heart of VPL stands the leadership of Mr. Deneshkumar Velmurugan. Supporting this journey is a dedicated technical and operations team who ensure the professional standards and digital excellence of the league:
While VPL began as a cricket league, its long-term vision extends beyond a single sport. The organization is actively working toward developing multi-sports initiatives under the VPL model, focusing on disciplines such as Volleyball, Football, Badminton, Silambam, Kabaddi, Yoga, and Gymnasium-based fitness training.
This holistic approach supports both modern and traditional sports, promotes physical and mental well-being, and helps preserve cultural athletic practices while preparing athletes for competitive environments.
To become a trusted, multi-sports development platform that empowers rural youth, preserves sporting values, and produces confident athletes capable of competing at higher levels.
